National Giving Day - Sunday 31st October 2021

Message from Brian C Hilsley

Dear Friends

I am glad to be able to write to you in support of The National Giving Day which, in Spott, has been set for Sunday 31st October 2021. This is an initiative of the General Assembly and every congregation is being asked to support it sometime in October. All the money raised in Spott will go to supplement the ordinary, ongoing  income of the congregation.

Church finances across Scotland have been badly hit by Covid and the hope is that members will find it possible to give a little bit more to help us through this setback. Envelopes are being distributed and will also be available on the day. Simply put these into the plate at the door, post it to the Treasurer, or, if necessary, ask your elder to collect your donation from your home.  This can happen between now and 31st October.Alternatively, the Spott Church website also has a secure On-Line Giving Portal, sponsored by the Church of Scotland, for those who wish to donate in that way.

I fully appreciate that most households are currently “feeling the pinch” as prices rise. However, every little helps and your gift will offer not just a boost to finances but an encouragement to us all.

 Yours in Christ Jesus

 Brian Hilsley

Interim Moderator and Locum Minister

“ WANT TO GIVE TO SPOTT CHURCH?

You will be directed to the On-line Giving instructions. Scroll down to Step 1 until you reach the boxes which invite you to either give a donation to the main Church of Scotland General Fund, or the right-hand box which offers the facility to donate to your own church.  Choose the latter to make a payment direct to the church of choice.

If you click on the box which offers donations to your own church - you should type in "Spott" and then follow the directions as to how much you wish to donate etc

The system is extremely efficient and knows how to direct your donation direct to the Spott Church Account. The only thing you should be aware of is that there is a small fee (approximately 5% of your donation) which is taken for administrative purposes.

Nevertheless, this is a small price to pay for achieving donations direct to Spott Church. The system takes a day, or so to complete the transaction, so it will eventually show up on your bank statement.  You can also receive check the box to receive a receipt confirming the transaction.

Step 2  Can be completed if you wish to Gift Aid your donation.

Step 3 Can be used to process a donation through Paypal.

Nothing could be simpler - and it means that Spott Church can benefit from your generosity.

Thank you, so much.”
